What’s a History Major Going to do?

As a freshman, I’ve had extraordinary opportunities in the history department at UA. After presenting a proposal to my professor and Dr. Mixson in the fall of 2016, the head of our department, I received a guarantee of full departmental backing for my research. In the spring semester of 2017, I’ve researched lynchings and memory in the American South with Dr. Giggie’s HY 300 course. Within that course, I’ve had the opportunity to visit Montgomery and learn more about the Civil Rights Movement and the current work of the Equal Justice Initiative. I’m looking forward to the work I’ll be able to do within UA’s history department in the future.
