Project Chimps: Fall Break 2021

Fall Break 2021 Plans?  Make it memorable this year!  Join this fall break opportunity for service learning and fun!  A&S students will go to Project Chimps (a refuge for retired research chimps near Blue Ridge Georgia) to provide support to their efforts.  Work assignments will focus on preparation for their annual fundraiser including grounds management and event preparation.  Students will benefit from working with a non–profit organization, networking opportunities with other volunteers and staff, and interaction with other A&S students.

The group will leave campus on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 27 and return on Saturday, October 30.  We will work at Project Chimps on Thursday and Friday during the day and enjoy downtown Blue Ridge at night for dinner and fun. Rooms are double accommodations at a local hotel.  Group transportation, continental breakfast, and two lunches will be provided. Approximately $300 is needed to cover the cost of the hotel and remaining meals.

Contact Pamela Derrick, Director of Experiential Learning at pamela.w.derrick@ua.edu for more information.  Deadline to register is this Friday, October 15.
